About Me

I grew up odd but gifted and never really felt like I was like the other people around me. It wasn’t until I was in college that I discovered I was autistic. I was doing some research on autism to understand my niece better when I started reading The Complete Guide to Asperger’s Syndrome by Dr. Tony Attwood. When I got to the section about growing up with high-functioning autism I couldn’t stop crying. I was looking for information on my niece, but what I was reading was describing my confusing life in a way I never expected. It was great! However, I’ve found that finding out you’re autistic later in life can be a double-edged sword. I’ve had a hard time developing any community around my experience. I struggle to find appropriate treatment. I often wander through this life confused and aimless. I want to share my experiences and hear from others about their journeys with autism as an adult. Whether that sounds like you or not, Welcome! Here’s to fresh insight, fruitful conversation, and hopefully some understanding along the way.
